She holds these positions for a few seconds at a time, long enough to register the arch extension, then lowers back down.

The kitchen does its job as a stage. Tile floor reflects just enough light to outline the shoe edges. Dark wooden cabinets frame the composition from the sides. The dishwashing noise is the only soundtrack. Nothing about the setting tries to be glamorous, which makes the mules stand out more – they are the only polished element in a working kitchen.
