A pair of wrinkled soles on a floral rug, shot from the floor at the exact height where your face would be if you were lying in front of them. That is the POV, and it holds for nine minutes without a single cut above the knee.
Emma kneels on a vintage rug in a grey oversized sweater and frayed denim cut-offs, her 5’4″ (163 cm) frame folded onto her heels so her size 6 (EU 37) bare soles face the camera behind her. The wrinkles on her soles are the first thing you see, and the POV angle keeps them at the center of every frame regardless of which direction she shifts.
Kneeling from behind. When Emma sits back on her heels, her soles flatten outward and the wrinkle pattern runs in wide parallel lines across the ball of each foot. The frayed edge of her denim shorts sits just above, and the grey sweater falls loosely over the rest. It is a soles-first POV angle that lets the camera hold both feet and the lower half of her body in one frame without choosing between them.
The shift to the side. Midway through she rolls onto one hip and stretches her legs to the side, crossing her ankles on the rug. The wrinkled soles tilt toward the camera from a new angle, and the POV changes from looking straight at the sole surface to looking along the length of the foot from heel to toe. The wrinkle lines read differently from this profile, and the arches show up more sharply.
The rug and the cabin. The floral vintage rug is faded reds and blues on a dark wood floor. Behind Emma, a dark stained wall, a stack of firewood, a gold picture frame leaning against the corner, a cluster of white candles. Warm, lived-in, quiet. The kind of room where you could sit on the floor for nine minutes without anyone asking why.
She looks back once. In the opening shot Emma turns her head over her shoulder toward the camera and smiles. It is the only time her face is in frame for more than a second or two. After that the camera stays low and her face disappears behind the sweater and the denim. The soles are the only part of her that stays visible throughout.
Nine minutes of mature soles from the floor. The POV never lifts higher than the rug.
