The Walk

Heel-toe, heel-toe, with the confidence of someone who has worn platforms before. Emily’s stride is long – she stands 5 feet 8 inches (174 cm) – and the black jeans taper to the ankle, framing the top of each shoe perfectly. The straps cross over the foot in an X pattern, with a thin ankle strap holding everything in place. Each step flexes the straps slightly, and you catch glimpses of bare skin between the bands.

The Heels

Black patent platform stilettos with multiple crossing straps. The platform adds height, making Emily’s already long legs look even longer. The patent finish catches the green-tinted light from the walls and turns every angle change into a small light show. When she stops and shifts weight to one foot, the other heel lifts just slightly off the floor, and the shoe begins to separate from the foot at the back.

The Red Toenails

Through the open toe of each platform, five red-painted nails are visible. The color contrast – red against black patent, black against pale skin – is what makes this video work visually. When Emily pauses mid-stride, toes curled slightly over the front edge of the shoe, the red flashes through the straps.

The Shoe Removal

The final sequence. Emily leans against the wall and removes the heels one at a time. As the strappy shoe comes off, you see the slight strap marks pressed into the top of her foot. She flexes her toes, pushes up onto tiptoe barefoot, and presses one sole against the discarded shoe on the floor. The wrinkled sole against the patent leather is an image that needs no explanation. Her small size 6 feet (EU 37) look naked after spending the video wrapped in all those straps.
