Size 39 feet in patent platform heels, and the click of each step sounds like it means it.
Lynda walks across the dark wooden floor on the pink Victorian couch set in black patent platform stiletto heels with ankle straps. Her EU 39 feet fill the shoes completely – no gap at the toe, no slip at the heel – and the platform base is wide enough to accommodate the full width of her foot. At 5’8″, the added height makes her legs look architectural, and the nearly eleven minutes mix walking, sitting, and the kind of shoe play that only works on feet this big.
The walking sequences are shot low, at ankle height. You see the patent leather catch light with each stride, the platform sole landing flat on the dark wood, and the red-polished toes pressing forward against the open front of the shoe. Lynda walks with long, even strides – the kind of walk that comes from filling the shoe rather than sliding around inside it.
The sitting segments bring crossed legs and dangling. On the Victorian couch, Lynda crosses one leg over the other and lets the platform heel hang from her toes. The shoe is heavy – heavier than a simple mule – and the dangling is slow, controlled by the weight of the platform rather than the speed of the foot. The ankle strap stays buckled but shifts with each swing.
A shoe change happens somewhere in the middle. The platform heels come off and Lynda walks barefoot briefly, her big wrinkled soles pressing flat on the hardwood floor before she steps into a second pair. The barefoot interval is short but telling – without the platforms, her feet look different. Wider, flatter, the arch settling closer to the ground, the red toes spreading against the wood.
The ornate couch, the concrete wall, and the dark floor keep the set familiar. Lynda’s long legs in the platform heels are the centerpiece, and the red toenails visible through the open toe of each shoe are the accent.
Eleven minutes of walking, sitting, and dangling. The shoes are big, the feet are bigger, and the floor feels it with every step.
